The Sunshine Coast community is invited to participate in a series of tree planting events as part of the region’s “7 Years to Grow” initiative, marking seven years until the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. These events started on July 23, 2025, and run through early September.
Sunshine Coast Mayor Rosanna Natoli, local athletes, and community members kicked off the initiative at Lake Kawana, planting a ceremonial tree and celebrating the region’s journey toward hosting world-class sport and cultural events.
The program aims to distribute 2,032 trees to local backyards, schools, and clubs, as well as plant 500 trees at the Sunshine Coast Ecological Park and additional trees near Sunshine Coast Stadium. The initiative promotes sustainability and environmental legacy, encouraging residents to help green their communities ahead of the Games.
